The Latest Going's On...

As of 8 August 2008:

Well, I've been a little remiss in keeping up with this thing; here it is August already!   We've since had the 4th of July Cruise in at Michael Babcocks, which I couldn't get to but I heard was a great success.  Then there was the Regret-a-Regatta, hosted by myself (John) and Heidi which also went very well.  We had a pretty decent breeze for the race - check out John Nolan here trying to swamp his boat.  He ended up winning the race with Turner in second and Steve  Martles in third.  More pictures here.

Finally, on August second,  was Meeks Bay Race Day hosted by Bob Pelton and John Gallagher.  Probably the best day on the lake so far this season.  No smoke, nice and warm, and a decent breeze.  We had six boats in the race.

Pelton won it with his new sails, John Nolan in second and Steve Martles in third. The BBQ also had a good turnout and great food.  Some fine cooking by Bob and John.  Pictures here.

Next up is the Raft Up at Emerald Bay.  From the responses so far it sound like it's going to be a pretty big turnout this year.  See ya all there!

As of 30 May 2008:

Opening Day was kind of a mixed bag - the BBQ was great with a good turnout and Phyllis doing her usual wonderful job of organizing, cooking, and making sure everybody was happy.  Heidi brought a new batch of clothing with some pretty cool new items and actually sold out of some things on the first day.

The race was a different story.  The winds were  probably some of the most blustery and unpredictable that I've seen on the lake.   All the way from dead calm to 30-35 knot gusts when the thunderstorm caught up with us.  Five boats started and only two finished.  Pelton led the race easily for most of the way but then blew out his main sail just a few hundred yards from the finish and couldn't get across with just the jib.  Hopefully the Regretta Regatta on the 19th of July will be better.

As of 25 April 2008:

We held our spring board meeting on April 5th and set the dates for this seasons events.  Opening Day is the 21st of June.  Check out the calendar for all the other great stuff we have planned.  There's plenty of water in the lake - should be another dynamite summer at beautiful Lake Tahoe.
